This is the space where I write about my life and how technology relates to it or is used in it, or how I'd like technology to relate to it. Occassionally I may RANT or RAVE about the things in this world that affect ME!
Steven A. Simmons is an information security professional with 30 years of experience in Financial Services and is currently the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of Sterling National Bank, a growing commercial bank in the New York City region on track to reach US$30 Billion in assets by 2018. In his role as CISO he is responsible for developing cyber security strategies including direction for securing the bank’s cloud environment.
A Canadian citizen and US Permanent Resident, Steven has held a variety of technology and information security roles in both the United States and Canada. Prior to moving to Sterling, Steven spent 25 years with Citigroup, building and supporting trading floor environments, developing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategies, and developing and implementing information security programs for Citigroup’s investment banking and technology organizations. Under Steven’s direction Citi achieved global ISO 27000 certifications for its 13 primary data centers.
Steven holds CISSP, CISA, and CISM certifications as well as a certificate in Information Security from County College of Morris, a National Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE 2Y) where he is a member of the Department of Information Technologies Advisory Board providing insight on the Information Security field.
